Sutherland Shire Brass is a non-profit, community brass band dedicated to providing opportunities for musicians to perform for the entertainment of others. The Band provides a friendly environment and encourages the musical development of its players. Its two-tiered structure caters for players of different ages and abilities.

Senior Band

Senior Band is the premiere ensemble of Sutherland Shire Brass and comprises all players over 19 years and Youth Band members of sufficient standard. A leading brass band in New South Wales , the Senior Band performs in many marches, playouts and concerts and regularly competes in State and National Championships. Rehearsals every Monday night from 7.45pm until 9.45pm .

Both bands have enjoyed success in State Band competitions and individual competitions. In 2002 we won Battle of the Bands competition, having had to win the Metropolitan heat to be eligible for the final. We look forward to more achievements in the future.

Training Band

Training Band is currently being evaluated and reformed. The Training band is for new members who have had no previous experience playing brass instruments. The Band aims to teach players the fundamentals of technique and to raise the player's ability so that they may graduate to Youth Band. As well as instrumental studies, the members are taught music theory and relevant notation skills.

Instruments can be hired for $70 per year once you are a member of Sutherland Shire Brass.
