Rehearsals are held at our Hall at 77 Eton Street, Sutherland (near Park St).

Senior Band

We're looking for experienced musicians who are:

  • 19 years of age or older
  • Play a brass instrument or percussion instruments
  • Support the aims and objectives of a community band
  • Want to have fun as well as compete in B Grade competitions
  • Will commit to attend rehearsals and engagements

Current vacancies: Most sections, including Tuba, Baritone, Tenor Horn, Trombone and Cornet players

The Senior Band rehearses every Monday evening from 8.00pm to 10.00pm under the direction of Phil Eades and guest conductors.

Youth Band

We're looking for young musicians who are:

  • Between 10 and 18 years of age
  • Study music at school and play in a school band
  • Are keen to develop as young musicians
  • Are living in Sutherland or St George Shire

Current vacancies: Tuba, Tenorhorn, Euphonium, Baritone and Cornet players.

The Youth Band rehearses every Wednesday evening (during School Terms) from 7.00pm to 8.30pm under the direction of Phil Eades.

We also conduct a number of workshops for young musicians. In the past we have engaged the services notable musicians such as David Manual (drumming and percussion workshops), Ron Prussing (lower brass workshop), Paul Goodchild (cornet / trumpet workshop) and Dan Williams (cornet / trumpet workshop).

Training Band

Are you a parent/grandparent of a school student who fits the following profile?:

  • Between 7 and 18 years of age
  • Wants to learn to read and transpose music
  • Wants to learn to play a brass instrument
  • Is a resident of Sutherland or St George Shire

If so, then bring your child or children to our Training Band which rehearses during school term on Wednesday evenings between 6.00pm and 7.00pm.
